Serious question here. What is this timeline? We have a malignant narcissistic sociopath with dementia running for President of the United States of America to avoid prison for his crimes. A Supreme Court of fascistic idealogues hell bent on creating law contrary to what the Constitution’s plain language states while simultaneously being strict textualists when it suits their political agenda. A large portion of the populace is convinced of wild conspiracy theories in lieu of a preponderance of evidence of reality. “Christians” have abandoned the values of their stated belief system as “liberal commie bullshit” in favor of a hate filled demagoguery cult of personality. I did truly believe we were better than this as a nation, but I am sadly seeing far too much apathy and complacency in liberals and an infuriating amount of “all or nothing” mentality from a large portion of leftists. Add to this, people have forgotten or straight up never learned how our systems of government work.
Y’all, Schoolhouse Rock is on YouTube, for free. Encyclopedia Britannica is online, again, for free unless you want some snazzy extras that I pay for because of how deep I want to go with research. Wikipedia has even become far more reliable in recent years. Somehow, curiosity and educating oneself has become “elitist” and “woke.”
There are multiple coping theories floating around my friend group as to why this is: 1) Harambe’s death was one of the Seals of the Apocalypse, 2) Archaeologists have disturbed way too many places and things that should not have been tampered with in any way, shape, or form, 3) We all prayed/meditated/manifested so hard against the 2012 doomsday conspiracy that we Supernatural in the later seasons fucked up the fabric of reality/Fate, 4) The killing of the White Stag in Britain was a provocation of the Old Gods. And before anyone goes, “hey aren’t those all conspiracies?” No, not really. We’re not saying these are in any way actual fact. I would hope people aren’t running around trying to convince others we’re all doomed because of these non sequitur events.
As for the actual reasons why things are the way they are, that takes multiple posts to break down and explain. Information siloing is part of it. The conglomeratization of news media by multinational corporations changing the motive from informing the populace to profits is another part.
